Life Sketch Taken From the Funeral Bulletin

Ralph Dale Richmond of Marion, Kansas, peacefully passed away December 12, 2019, at the age of 86. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and neighbor.

Ralph was born to parents Clyde ‘Fritz’ and Henrietta ‘Hank’ Richmond on March 21st, 1933 in Marion, Kansas. He was the eldest of four, grew up helping his father on their farm in rural Marion and graduated from Marion High School in 1951.

In 1955, Ralph married Wanda Lou Propp.  Together they raised three children, Rhonda, Rodney & Randall on a farm near the Marion Reservoir where they lived for 37 years. Ralph farmed and drilled water wells early on and retired from Marion Die & Fixture after working for 21 years as a machinist.

Ralph enjoyed traveling, polka dancing and watching his grandchildren in various activities.  He  was also an avid fisherman spending many wee hours of the morning at the Marion County Lake heated dock, fishing and talking with the ‘old men’ as he would call them. He shared his catch with many, whether it be fish, his homemade deer jerky or cracked pecans.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wanda Richmond, his son Rodney Richmond and wife Diane of Marion; his son Randall Richmond and wife Ramona of Salina; grandchildren, Damion Schinnerer of Longwood, Florida, Rebecca Young and husband Bobby of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Amber Thompson and husband Scott of Niwot, Colorado; Erin Reagan and husband Corbin of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Ryan Richmond of Marion; great-grandchildren, Nora & Wren Reagan and Miles Thompson; his sister Evelyn Bredemeier; brother James Richmond and wife Violet; sister-in-law Joyce Richmond; Brad Hudgens and wife Marlene; nieces and nephews.
