Life Sketch Taken from the Funeral Bulletin
Micheal Wayne Morgan, 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday afternoon September 17, 2019 at The St Luke Living Center, Marion, Kansas.
Mike was born December 14, 1948 to Ivan and Margaret (Bishoff) Morgan, Burns, Kansas. Mike attended first grade thru his sophomore year of high school at Burns, Kansas. His sophomore year of high school, he had the misfortune of being hit in the head with a baseball and survived a double blood clot on the brain. Mike finished his Junior and Senior year of high school at Matfield Green, Kansas. He was one of the last class of five graduating from Matfield High School. During that time he helped his dad farm and worked at Red Wright’s Filling Station along Highway 77 at Burns, Kansas. He also worked at the Kansas Turnpike service area at Mattfield, pumping gas and fixing tires. In January of 1969 Mike went to work for the Burns Coop until he retired in 2010.
Beverly Martin and Mike were married in February of 1969 at the United Methodist Church in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. They lived on a farm in the Wonsevu, Burns area where he farmed raising sheep, hogs and cattle, along with working 9 to 10 hours a day at the Coop. In June of 1969, when he was delivering feed for the Coop, he suffered an accident getting his left foot caught in an auger, causing the loss of half of his left foot. Being the strong willed person he was, Mike carried on as though nothing had happened.
After retiring in 2010, Mike continued to farm, raising sheep, looking after cattle and helping his sons and others work and ship cattle. Mike was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2013. He continued to do what he could, taking care of his sheep with the help of his grandsons, Tate and Drewe, who he loved dearly.
Mike leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Beverly; son, Max (Paula) Morgan of Ramona, Kansas; grandsons: Ryan (Rose) McDermott of Texas and family, Rod McDermott and daughter Hanne McDermott of Kansas; son, Brad (Tonja) Morgan of Cedar Point, Kansas; grandsons: Tate and Drewe; brothers: Larry (Delores) of Hesston, Kansas, Rich (Kris) of Moundridge, Kansas and Rod (Robin) of Burns, Kansas; sister-in-law, Becky (Ed) Baublitz of Pembroke Pines, Florida; many nieces and nephews, an aunt and uncle, many cousins and dear friend Ed Robinson, Jr. and others.
He was predeceased in death by 2 sets of grandparents, parents Ivan and Margaret (Bishoff) Morgan, his mother-in-law, father-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Mike was a fighter. His mother and father-in-law called him a workaholic. He did take time to enjoy life and family, especially his grandsons, Tate and Drewe.
Until we meet again, we love you, Mike,
and will miss you day in and day out.
Your Loving Family
Max, Paula, Ryan, Rose & family, Rod and Hanne
