Hillsboro – Jay McClure, 71, died May 20, 2017 at his residence in Hillsboro.  He was born July 27, 1945 to John Warren and Pearl (Hagadorn) McClure in Portis, Kansas.  He owned and operated the Dari Ette in Hillsboro for many years.  He married Cathy Stacy December 31, 1971 at Newton.  Survivors include: wife, Cathy McClure of Hillsboro; son, Rick (Tyler) McClure – Burgen of Wichita; daughter, Karen Fryhover of Hillsboro; 2 grandchildren, Jordan and Abby Fryhover; brother in law, Max (Jan) Stacy of Wichita; sister, Linda (Ben) Streit of Tipton, KS; sister in law, Morna Rochelle of Durham; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Celebration of Life Service 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at the American Legion in Hillsboro.  Committal service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Gaylord Cemetery of Gaylord, Kansas.  Memorials to Hillsboro American Legion Post 366 in care of Jost Funeral Home P.O. Jay L. McClure
Jay Lyle McClure, 71, died on May 20, 2017 at home. Jay was born July 27, 1945 at Portis, Kansas to John Warren McClure and Pearl C. Hagadorn McClure. He attended school at Osborne, Kansas school graduated from high school in 1963.
He liked to tell the kids how when he was 12 he had his first job.  He would set pins at the bowling alley–along with working on the farm.  This was the first of many jobs he held over his lifetime. He spent many years working construction from labor to crane operator to superintendent with Rhoades Construction, Inc. out of Newton, Kansas. In 1985 Jay and Cathy bought the Dari Ette Drive In, Inc. in Hillsboro, Kansas. He operated the Dari Ette for 15 years. He met many people throughout his working life.
In 1978 Jay moved to Aulne, Kansas with his family. He loved telling people he lived in Aulne. In 2015 Jay and Cathy moved to Hillsboro after a lengthy illness.
December 31, 1970 Jay and Cathy were married in Newton, Kansas. She survives at home.
Surviving members of family are: Son–Rick J. McClure-Burgen and Tyler, Wichita, KS. daughter–Karen D. Fryhover, Hillsboro, KS. sister–Linda and Ben Streit, Tipton, KS. Grandchildren Jordan Fryhover and Abby Fryhover. Sister-in-law–Morna Rochelle, Durham, KS. brother-in-law–Max and Jan Stacy, Wichita, KS. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
