Hillsboro – Flora “Leola” Williams, died October 28, 2018 at Parkside Home in Hillsboro.  She was born September 29, 1924 at Rural Bush City, Kansas to Amzi and Flora (Henderson) Gull.  She was a publisher for her newspaper.  She married Frank Williams October 7, 1945 at Dalhart, Texas.  Survivors include: son, Richard L. (Vera) Williams of Rural Hillsboro; daughters, Marcia (Scott) Seaton of Benton, Pamela Baxter of Emporia; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  Predeceased: husband, Frank Williams in 2011; daughter, Lori Beth Beck in 1976; son-in-law, John A. Baxter in 2016; brothers, Joseph, Wilber, Bernard; sisters, Sarah Hearnesberger, Sadie Ellis, Alice L. Gull.  Committal Service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Glasco Cemetery of Glasco, Kansas.  Memorials to Parkside Home in care of Jost Funeral Home P.O. Flora “Leola” (Gull) Williams, 94, died Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro, Kansas. She was born September 29, 1924 near Bush City, Kansas to Amzi Wilber and Flora Belle (Henderson) Gull.

Leola graduated from Kincaid High School in 1942. She married Frank A. Williams on October 7, 1945 at Dalhart, Texas. In 1950 they moved to Iola, Kansas and raised three daughters and one son. Leola was a homemaker while they lived there.

Relocating their family to northeast Kansas, Leola and Frank became newspaper co-owners and publishers of the Valley Falls Vindicator from November 1962 until December 1967.

They also owned and published the Glasco Sun and Delphos Republican, retiring in 1994 at Glasco, Kansas.

During retirement they spent much of their time golfing, gardening and being snowbirds. Leola and Frank moved to Hillsboro, Kansas where they celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary in 2011.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; a daughter, Lori Beck; son-in-law, John A. Baxter; her parents; three sisters, Sarah Hearnesberger, Sadie Ellis, Alice L. Gull; and brothers, Joseph, Wilbur and Bernard Gull.

Survivors include: son, Richard (Vera) Williams of Rural Hillsboro, Kansas; daughters, Marcia (Scott) Seaton of Benton, Kansas, Pamela Baxter of Emporia, Kansas; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
