Hillsboro – Carol Elaine Wiebe, 83, passed away May 7, 2019 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.  She was born February 7, 1936 in Russell to Harold and Evelyn Barb.  She married Harold J. Wiebe March 29, 1957 in Ellsworth.  Survivors include, sons, Warran (Margaret) Wiebe of Lawrence, Ward (Beth) Wiebe of Branson, Missouri, Wade (Jan) Wiebe of Lawrence; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Ken (Marilyn) of Florida.  Predeceased by her husband, Harold J. Wiebe in 2016.  Celebration of Life Service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.  Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.  Memorials to Kanakuk Ministries in care of Jost Funeral Home P.O. Carol Elaine Wiebe, 83, of Hillsboro, Kansas passed away May 7, 2019.  She was born February 7, 1936 in Spearville, Kansas to Harold and Evelyn Barb.

She attended Great Bend High School and Kansas State Teachers College (Emporia State University).

Carol and Harold J. Wiebe were married on March 29, 1957 in Ellsworth, Kansas.  The three sons were born in Great Bend, Kansas in 1958, 1960, and 1962.  The family moved to Hillsboro, Kansas in 1963.

Carol was an active supporter of the people and community of Hillsboro through her participation in many community organizations and involvement in politics on the local, state, and national level.  She worked as the Economic Development Director for the HillsboroDevelopment Corporation and the Hillsboro Management Board from 1981 to 2002.  In 1970 she was one of the founding members of the Hillsboro Arts & Crafts Fair.

Survivors include, three sons, Warran (Margaret) Wiebe of Lawrence, Kansas, Ward (Beth) Wiebe of Branson, Missouri, Wade (Jan) Wiebe of Lawrence, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and brother, Ken (Marilyn) of Florida.

Predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Harold J. Wiebe in 2016.
