Life Sketch taken From the Funeral Bulletin

Brad Glen Jewell was born March 8, 1953 in Abilene, Kansas. He was raised in Clay Center, Kansas, together with his brother, Lee, by his mother, Laberta Hoover. He graduated from Clay Center High School in 1971 and moved to Leavenworth, Kansas, where he worked for Waymire’s Grocery store until it closed in the 1990s.
In 1975 he met and married Esther Cox in Basehor, Kansas. Two daughters, Brandi and Natalie, were born to them. Brad moved back to Leavenworth following their divorce.
While living in Leavenworth he enjoyed participating in different bowling leagues and playing golf with his father, Don Jewell, and many friends. He also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his two daughters. In 2006 he moved to Wamego, Kansas, where he worked for Kraft foods. While there, he was able to spend time with his oldest grandchildren.
After receiving a diagnosis of cancer, he moved back to Leavenworth for treatment.  Some time later, both of Brad’s daughters had moved to Hillsboro so he chose to move to Hillsboro to be close to them and his five grandchildren. His many medical appointments made him good friends with staff at both Hillsboro Community Hospital and Newton Cancer Treatment Center.
Brad had a deep love for his grandchildren. He often babysat them as well as “pet-sat” Natalie’s dogs.
Preceding him death: his father, Don Jewell, his mother, Laberta Hoover Carlson; a half-brother, Chip Jewell.
Survivors include his daughters, Brandi (Tony) Hein and Natalie Jewell; grandchildren, Henry Hein, Grace Hein, Oliver Hein, Marshal Hein, and Elaine Mull; his step-mother, Jan Jewell; a brother, Lee (Margie) Jewell;  half-brothers, Jeff Jewell and Jay Jewell; and several nieces and nephews.
