Hillsboro – Arthur Klassen, 98, died August 7, 2019 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro. He was born March 12, 1921 to Peter and Marie (Nightengale) Klassen rural Tampa. He married Drusilla Parrish October 25, 1948 in Marion. He attended Lehigh public schools. He worked for A.M.P.I. as a milk truck driver for 50 years. Survivors include: wife, Dru Klassen of Hillsboro; daughters, Carolyn Jost of Lewisville, Texas, Dana Riling of Hillsboro, Kim Klassen of Hillsboro; son-in-law, Tom Lonard of Topeka; 5 grandsons and 11 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by daughters, Gayle Klassen and Sharon Lonard. Celebration of Life service 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2019 at Hillsboro United Methodist Church with Pastor Lori Schwilling officiating. Art Klassen, 98, of Hillsboro, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. He was born on a farm in the Tampa, KS area. He was the son of Pete and Marie (Nightengale) Klassen. Art was a 1939 graduate of Lehigh High School. Out of high school he worked several years as a driver for an oil company until he was employed with AMPI (formerly Tip-Top Creamery). He drove a Grade A Bulk Milk truck for them for 50+ years before retiring from AMPI in 1985.
Art married Drusilla (Dru) Parrish on October 25, 1948. She survives. Other survivors include daughters Carolyn Jost, Dana Riling and Kim Klassen; grandchildren Kevin Jost, Todd Jost, Steven Lonard, Ryan Lonard, Jeff Whistler; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughters Gayle Klassen and Sharon Lonard and his sister Esther Harrington.
